In 2022 composer Michael Kropf and I were having coffee catching up about music and life. He was introduced to me through the recording process on Yimes where he performed piano, organ and violin. Over that conversation we talked about how we both admired the Fisher building among the other architectural marvels in Detroit.
As a composer Michael had the vision to write a sonata honoring the architecture which brought so much inspiration and character to the city. He asked if I might be interested in producing a film component to accompany the music and without hesitation, I jumped onboard.
Fast forward two years and with institutional support from the Albert Kahn Legacy Foundation, The Michigan Architectural Foundation and Michigan Humanities, we are well underway with production and set to premier the film and sonata on September 6th in the lobby of the Fisher building as part of Detroit Month of Design.
It’s been amazing to work with Director of Photography Noah Elliot Morrison to help tell this story along with editor Philip Carrel and Drone Operator Jon Clark. The film and music are coming to life over the summer and our premier is booked! All the best,
